Beaches
Javea has a stunning and diverse coastline, ranging from idyllic coves to wide sandy beaches.
Playa del Arenal
Without a doubt, Playa del Arenal is the most famous beach in Javea. This wide sandy beach is ideal for families thanks to its shallow, clear water. Along the beach you will find a lively promenade with numerous restaurants, cafés, and bars – perfect for a seaside lunch or a cocktail at sunset. Sun loungers and parasols are available for rent, and parking facilities are well organized, although it is advisable to arrive early during the summer months.
Cala Granadella
Voted one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain! A true gem of a bay, surrounded by pine trees and rugged cliffs. Cala Granadella is a pebble beach with crystal-clear water, popular with snorkelers and kayakers. There are a few small restaurants nearby and limited, often free parking. During high season, sun loungers are available.
Cala Portitxol (La Barraca)
This picturesque beach, with its white fishermen’s houses and views of Portitxol Island, is a must-see. In summer, sun loungers can be rented. The highly popular restaurant Cala Clemence is located directly on the bay (reservations recommended). Parking is available at a nearby car park, but it fills up quickly.
Playa de la Grava
This pebble/sand beach is located near the port of Javea and is ideal for those seeking a quiet and authentic coastal experience. The adjacent promenade offers charming cafés, restaurants, and shops. The water is calm and clear, making it perfect for swimming. Sun loungers and parasols are available for rent, and parking is possible nearby, especially around the harbor. The beach attracts many locals and has a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere.
Cala Blanca & Cala Sardinera
For those who love hidden spots, these coves are ideal. Less crowded, yet just as beautiful. There are no facilities on the beaches themselves, so bring your own supplies. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a peaceful morning swim.
Cala del Moraig – Benitatxell
Located between Moraira and Jávea, Cala del Moraig is a spectacular bay. This 300-metre pebble beach is framed by dramatic cliffs and renowned for its crystal-clear, turquoise waters. A highlight of the bay is the Cova dels Arcs, a natural sea cave with striking rock formations shaped by the sea, popular with snorkellers and photographers alike. The far-left section of the beach is officially designated for naturists. The surrounding coastline also offers several spectacular hiking routes through the cliffs, connecting hidden coves and neighbouring beaches. Parking can be reserved in advance via the official website (approx. €15 per day). Don't test your luck in peak season to go there without it! Scooters can park free of charge in designated areas. Sun loungers and parasols are available for rent directly on the beach, and arriving early in peak season is highly recommended.
